As most of you who live at Sardonic are aware, it was this film responsible for my affliction of wishing to work with the film’s writing team…which led me to Alex O’Loughlin…which led me to Hawaii 5-0.
I am still waiting on them to ring me so that I may sit at the writing table, look pretty, and contribute to the creative process.
(I believe!)
This page is for those of you asking to discuss this film further.
P.S. Read Feed (Original) to find my immediate impressions on this film, including that Alex O’Loughlin looked terrible as a hairless chested blond person.

I finally saw it in “digestible”
( pun intended) chunks. I loved it!!! But I want to know more. Do you think justice was served? I actually felt like I sympathized more with Alex’s character in the end. Am I sick?
Like the rest of us, a part of you is fkd in the head.
That said. This is just like Seven, in that if you accepted Brad Pitt’s action, then you too justified (to a great extent) the behaviours of whatsisfacethemurderer.
Though! The argument against this is that Pitt’s character was not left with a choice re his behaviour (which leads to a bigger Q re freedom of choice).
Where Feed is concerned, the Q is motive.
– did you believe Alex’s character believed his own sh.t? If he did, why did he marry a skinny?
– re the lunatic copper: what were his motives? They were rage / anger / control / revenge.
If the two motives are equal, then you can’t have appreciation for one above the other. If they are not, then it makes sense to pity one over the other.
Ultimately the decision is left to the viewing audience.
Watch. Consider. Decide.
OK, I’ll bite. ha!
For the copper, I felt no sympathy for. Correct me if I’m wrong but they never really did present a back story for him, right? He was just an abusive a.shole to the skinny chick but found true love with a heftier girl? V weird.
Now Alex’s character I am torn as to whether he had a choice. On one hand I think he did have a choice like mentioned he married a skinny. Also at the end when he was confronted by the copper, he did his little “this is power” trip. But at the same time he had the abuse in his past (I feel like what his mother put him through was psych abuse). Unless it was just a brilliant subtlety that Alex inferred into the character, you almost detect a flip of the switch…for lack of a better term. In most scenes you really got the feeling he loved her. When the copper shot her, his entire mannerisms change and you see him break inside. Yet he was abusing her earlier. Very interesting.
Hi ESS, they actually provide as with a back story for both Michael and the Cop, but the flashes are so quick, you miss out when you blink. They both had mother issues (very cliche as Alex said in an interview).
Alex definitly played that subtlety you speak off, brilliantly… his “love”(obsession), all his “hard work” of getting her there and his POWER were all taken away in that moment!
Just wanted to know, where exactly did someone spot the FOY in this film
!????
And why aren´t there more comments on this thread??? Wasn´t this homework for the FUCUPS??!!!
This is an interesting movie, you need to watch it twice at least for the plot to open…right?
If you were ever so lucky to meet AOL, just think Feed Feed Feed…as a brainfreeze medicin. (glad he´s never gone back to the blond look…ewwww)
I think the blonde thing was made worse by them bleaching his eyebrows. Those beautiful eyes just aren’t the same without the brows framing them. One of the reasons I don’t dig blonde men. I like eyes that are framed by a great set of brows. True. Story.
You see a tiny bit of the FOY, or really the sock thingy in the opening scene with him when he comes in to her naked with the burger. You can see the carpet doesn’t match the drapes (heh) and that he needed to do a bit of manscaping. I volunteer my services….
ESS: Yes, I agree with you that there is def a glimpse of part of The FOY at the beginning of the movie when he feeds Dierdra the burger. And as you say, the carpet def doesn’t match the drapes.
Paula (and everyone who loves The FOY):
THERE IS ANOTHER SCENE TO DO SOME FOY-SPOTTING!
Go to scene in Chapter 5–when they show Philip watching Michael on the We Love Lucy website. Pay close attention to how Michael is naked (of course) and crouching/leaning toward Lucy while he’s feeding her. That has to be a near glimpse/bad camera angle of The FOY or The FOY in a silky pouch…..
Hi Andr3a – in my opinion, no silky pouch, it’s all just pure FOY.
Now how did I ever miss that scene (in chapter 5)!!??? Never even seen a screencap of that one, couldn´t actually make one myself….felt so wrong. The FOY was clearly there in a relaxed state, covered in silk
paula: Yeah, as tempting as it would be, I agree that making a screencap seems v v wrong. Will have to use pause and slo-mo on my DVD player instead. Shopping list: Need BIGGER TV.
My shopping list.. need one of those cameras from H5-0 that can switch angles!
Hmm. I will have to go back and wach chapter 5, oh wait. I watch it on Netflix, not the DVD. Which scene is it?
Since you guys have seen it, what are your thoughts on Maha’s questions above?
ESS: On our pretty leader’s original blog about feed, there is this comment: “AlexNymph Said: ‘Alex reveals all–go to frame 2550 or thereabouts.’” Does this help you with Netflix?
I’ve seen the movie twice now, and I’m still not sure what I think about it. I def do not like the cop/Philip because he acts like a jerk, even in his personal life. He’s a control freak who is obsessed with always being right. He’s gone over the edge and is just as bad as the criminals he pursues.
I think that Michael has A LOT of mental health issues related to him being a victim of abuse, neglect, etc. He’s acting out very unhealthy experiences, possibly PTSD-induced. So I have more sympathy for Michael, but I don’t necessarily agree with his actions. I’m still puzzled about Michael’s wife, other than she helps him keep up appearances so he can have his double life. They didn’t give us much background information about their relationship.
It might take another viewing before I figure this out. I love the extras on the DVD–Alex looks hot at the Q&A session.
About Michael’s wife, I think they barely touched the surface with her. For me, she was representative of the excessive right Christian ideology re male / female gender roles within marriage. Additionally, all behaviour is excused, and there is now responsibility where someone says: “the devil made me do it.”
…as you were.
I mean “there is NO responsibility when…”
xx
I’m so with you on this…. you can pass the blame to something/someone outside youself.
Also think she was really making herself believe that he was doing charity work by looking after these women and that by doing it he was earning an income to provide for her luxuries (easy to turn a blind eye with tha reasoning!)
I don´t think anyone can choose between these 2 caracters. Both are equally wrong in their actions. The first thought, after the finish, was pity for Michael´s caracter. But in the end the cop kind of rescued women from M´s sickness, so maybe he should be “rewarded” as the good guy. This thought may be influenced by preconception that cops are the good guys (remember the Norwegian Utoya killer dressed as a police and the people came from hiding thinking it was safe), even when cops are bad aren´t their “evil” actions justified?
I´m still left scaling from one side to the other…
So I was looking for a/the screen shot from FEED of AOL nekid with a very visable FOY online……..didn’t find it but I did find this……
http://www.male-celebs.org/alex-oloughlin-nude/
Is it possible that photo’s of the legendary FOY actually exist?
Although my name might not suggest it, I am no expert on these sites, but…I think they lure you in, to subscribe and then they FEED (pun intended) you with photoshopped photo’s. Then the one word of description they do give, also make me think, they’ve got the it wrong (according to all other evidence that we all have seen on screen)
To be honest with you, small suggestions and glimpses is far more exiting that the real thing, in any case and I would much rather have some mistery left on the matter of The FOY! (again, although my Sardonic name might suggest otherwise)
Would like to write a comment before I read what you all wrote here….then I’ll go back to see if more feel the same.I believe a lot of people choose a job in an area where they themselves have a problem. Somebody with mental issues might become a psychiatrist or psychologist. Somebody might become a Dr. if someone close to them died unnaturally in their early life etc. This cop clearly had sexual issues after an experience where he saw his mom and her boy-toy. He became a cop to stop sexual defiants, but was walking on a thin ledge and to fall off on the other side was not that surprising to me. I my eyes they were both wrong but they also have my sympathy, for what life did to them and the wrong way they dealt with what happened to them as children. (But I must say, here as Michael and in Criminal Minds, Alex’s acting just stirred me so much sympathy in me, I just wanted to hold him and try to make the pain go away!)
I see you give names to all the followers of movie/shows, but nothing on here?(LOL) How about “FEEDies” or “FEED-ME’s” (really only joking, can understand that nobody really want to be to much into this movie) Must admit, haven’t watched it as much as anything else of Alex.
PS. Did you know that when Alex and Patrick worked on the idea of the movie they were going to play the roles the other way around? The director switched them and I totally agree with him that it worked better as they played it.
My opinion after watching the interviewsis that there is one problem with the movie. Everybody involved wanted to portray their own story. The directer wanted to show us the overindulgence of our society. Alex and Patrick wanted to show us the wierdness of showing love and affection in a fetish-society that is not very well known and the writer wanted to write something that a movie can be made off!
