Alex has gone away to rehab, because he is a smart fella who is acknowledging that something is DANGER WILL ROBINSON DANGER in his world. There is nothing sardonic about this, or what led to this. I am grateful that he is man enough and grounded enough to know when it is time to put his sh/t on straight. Because, as we have seen time and again, Hollywood is a mother fkr for this sort of thing and there are no shortage of enablers.
I will ask everyone to refrain from discussing this unless what you have to say is tempered with compassion. Else, you will be asked to take your opinions and shove off this site.
Personally, I am looking forward to the return of his fuller bottom. Praise be.

Omg can I be first to post? I was v v distressed waiting 4 this weeks recap as needed something to lighten the mood but I will accept my fate of waiting on you to amuse me.
I agree completely. Alex is doing the right thing. He has such dedication to his fellow cast and crew members, he must have kept on going until he just couldn’t. All my love, prayers and support to him. And I will be looking forward to that nice fuller bottom too!

Love your thoughts. Real, real love. Your theory on the pain, not the meds, causing the weight loss, etc. makes absolute sense. Knowing how uber conscious he is about what he puts in to his body and how he treats it, it is highly probable that the pain got bad enough that he needs pain meds and wants to make sure he does it right.
While pain meds are helpful and sometimes essential, they’re powerful and dangerous and I applaud any and all who are responsible while using them – which can mean using them under the right supervision. Moral of the story —- don’t go it alone!
We have three weeks of reruns to kill, so there’s no hurry on the 2.18 recap. Just another excuse to rewatch it! While also enjoying my virgin exploration of Three Rivers.
Cheers to Alex and fuller bums! Once he returns, I think he should celebrate by showing off that fuller bum. Take off those pants, baby! We’ll celebrate with you!

I wasn’t going to comment on this page because I’m not entirely comfortable commenting on our beloved cast’s personal business, however, I have to echo ESS’s comments on pain and pain management.
I had years of off and on back pain that was never properly diagnosed. I thought I understood pain, but even then I still had a “take an Advil and suck it up” attitude. Then my disc fully herniated 2 years ago and I was incapacitated with pain like I’d never known. Only then did I truly understand what pain is and how it impacts you both physically AND mentally. There were many times I would’ve made a deal with the devil for one pain free day. It took months to rehab my back and thankfully I was able to avoid taking heavy duty painkillers…the steroid side effects were bad enough. I’m grateful there were people around me to lighten my load at home and at work so I could focus on getting better. I also didn’t have to deal with my injury while working long hours starring in a TV show in a very physical role. Even after getting back to work I’m sure many people thought I was absolutely fine, but they didn’t realize it took every ounce of my energy just to get into the office and stand there to talk to them.
I’ve rambled on but my point is, pain and pain management can be a koala. I’m glad AOL is addressing this sooner rather than later, good for him! I’m sad his personal business has to be the subject of a press release but unfortunately that’s the nature of the business. ESS, I hope you’re feeling better. M, it doesn’t matter how long it takes for the recap to go live because they are always worth the wait….and you’re so v v PRETEEEEE!
His weight is definitely a v personal issue and that’s a large part of why I personally have never been comfortable discussing it.

ACA with ALL that you said JDD and you too ESS. For me, 3 back surgeries-fused at 11 levels. Alex is a brave and wise man to confront this NOW. I am PROUD of him!

He’s such a brave and intelligent man and I’m so proud of him for taking these steps to get help he needs and to allow himself the time to heal. Thanks McMo! I’ll never be 100% and there’s still occasional discomfort. But it no longer keeps me from my regular activities so I really can’t complain.

So so true. I’m sure we must give the impression that we put him on a pedestal and think he can do no wrong, because (in accordance with our esteemed leader’s wise decree) we only talk about his talent and his awesome good looks, and it’s not likely that we’re going to find fault with those. But we all know enough about him to know that he is a well-rounded individual (current condition of bottom notwithstanding), and just because we don’t talk about his flaws, that doesn’t mean we don’t love him for them as much as we love him for his perfections.
My heart just broke when I read the news last night. We had been talking about it for a while but I think I had been hoping that it was just over-training or a new low-carb diet or something. That he had been pushing himself to keep going, using whatever he could, just makes me so sad.
He is such a professional and he works so fkn hard. I hope that he gets the rest and attention that he needs. Alex, we love you!

I’ve rewatched the last few episodes in the last 24 hours. Watching Alex while now knowing what he was going through, just makes my heart hurt.
I am so glad he is getting help. He was looking so bad and it was getting scary. I hope he takes whatever time he really needs to get better so he can stay that way. Being a public figure, at a certain point you can’t hide being sick, and the truth is rarely as bad as what is imagined, but he’s a nice guy and I’ve pretty much seen nothing but support for him. I’ve done the pain thing too and it just sucks the life out of you.

Beginning, but hardly ending, with Maha herself, this is one of the most hilarious and entertaining little corners of the ‘net. Pretty much a sure-thing giggle over here. But I gotta say, again beginning but not ending with Maha, y’all’s class and humanity in stopping the snark to honor the actors’ dignity– whether to cease the pile-on of Lauren, to refuse to dish on new girlfriends, or to stand in solidarity with Alex here– makes y’all the classiest hookers-with-golden-hearts I’ve ever met. Well sh/t. Just read that DDK had to take Alex’s place on the LA part of the NCIS:LA crossover. I don’t watch that show, but I know the Sam Seal backstory and was looking forward to the interaction. Since it airs on Tuesday, I can only assume it was the 2nd part of the two parter? Any chance that he was able to film the first part in Hawaii? Ugh. So hope he’s doing better. Heavy sigh.

I think NCIS-LA is likely to be the first part as there’s been no reference to the H50 part yet.
I think I recall @PLenkov saying the first part would be on 5-0 and the story would wrap up the next night on LA. But no Alex, huh? Double sigh, no twin SEALs performing amazing tricks while looking totally awesome.
I hope he’s getting better.
I haven’t seen any promo pics from them being in Hawaii, so perhaps they’re shooting out of order and Alex will be able to make the Hawaii ep of the crossover.

Said the exact same thing elsewhere. How is this (“he´s doing great”) different from Plenkov´s “he´s just fine”. Should LLWL hire some bodyguards, will we forgive him ever…
I want to believe Alex is coming back in his former healthy person, there´s no other option.
Hopefully it really is the truth this time. I’m cutting Atplenkov some slack on the “he’s just fine” because I think it had got to the point where he had to say something, but telling the truth would have just meant more hassle for Alex at a time when he needed it even less than usual. (Although this makes him a Lying Liar Who Little White Lies, or LLWLWL, which is neat, but also a bit confusing.)
I agree, it wasn’t AtPlenkov’s news to break. He had to respect Alex’s confidentiality.
AtPlenkov was in a tough position. He took the high road by not discussing any Alex issue. Generally speaking, I don’t like being “lied to” , but in this instance, he did the right thing.
I was hoping Alex would make the Hawaii part of the crossover but they always said he would miss one full episode.

My friends still call Alex the tampon guy. Poor dude. Everyone remembers the dude from the frakking tampon ad. “Wait that h50 guy is that weirdo playing with the chicks tampons? REALLYYYYYY?” *sighs* get with the times kiddos.

As you all know, I am new to these blogs so apologies if I am going over old ground. Just wanted to say how nice it was to read rational, sane, sensible, supportive (you get my drift) comments after what I read in other places at the time of the announcement of Alex’s rehab. We’d been watching Alex’s decline in health onscreen and had just put it down to too much training. From the pics I’ve seen of him lately, he looks back to good health. Which we all applaud, of course (and just not from a health perspective
) Note to self: stick with the FUCUPs and forget about reading anything else. Hooray for you all!
